APIC-MCT Cooperation Project
Aid Provided for Water Pipe Replacement in Pohnpei, FSM

This project was carried out in order to provide not only a source of water security to the village of Enipein Pah, whose population totals around 1,000 people, but also clean water. This project supplies a minimum of 1,000 gallons of water to each household in the village, reducing the risk of water-borne illnesses as well as providing a long-term safe source of water.
The project included repairing the existing water supply system which had been damaged during the floods of 2019. Specifically, the decrepit and corroded metal pipes were replaced with more durable and safe PVC pipes; APIC donated enough funds to cover 70 of these 4-inch PVC pipes. The actual replacement was done by the residents of Enipein Pah themselves.
Through MCT, APIC has provided aid in order to fix currently existing water distribution facilities and to build new ones throughout all of Micronesia; however, this project was a direct donation to the daily lives of residents. As well as it being a help in solving environmental challenges that the region faces, APIC also hopes that it will help heighten citizen’s awareness of environmental protection. APIC will continue to work with MCT to provide assistance in coming up with solutions to the variety of environmental challenges the Micronesia region faces.
