Welcoming 9th Term Xavier Exchange Students, 8th Term APIC-MCT Exchange Students, and 2nd Term UWI Exchange Students to Sophia University/Graduate School

On September 21, 2024, Ms. Josephianna Sak and Mr. Jeremiah Suliol of the Federated States of Micronesia officially commenced their studies at Sophia University. Additionally, eighth term APIC-MCT exchange students Ms. Tromainne Joab and Mr. Luke Carlos of the Federated States of Micronesia began their matriculation at Sophia University Graduate School, and Ms. Asha Gittens entered as the second term UWI exchange student.

Josephieanna and Jeremiah will obtain their bachelor’s degree under Sophia University’s newly established English-language taught SPSF (Sophia Program for Sustainable Future) under the faculty of General Global Studies.

Tromainne, Luke, and Asha will study for two years to obtain their master’s degree in Sophia University Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies.

The Xavier Exchange Student Scholarship Program was established in 2014 between Xavier High School (located in the Federated States of Micronesia), APIC, and Sophia University, allowing exchange students from Xavier High School to study at Sophia University in Tokyo. To date, six students have graduated from Sophia University under this program.

The APIC-MCT Exchange Student Scholarship Program was created upon the agreement of APIC, Sophia University, and MCT (Micronesia Conservation Trust); the program focuses on developing talent from the perspective of environmental conservation. This graduate program enrolls students from the three nations of the Micronesia region into Sophia University Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies to obtain their master’s degree in said field. Since the program’s establishment in 2017, ten students have graduated from the Graduate School.

The APIC-UWI Exchange Student Scholarship Program aims to develop talent who will contribute to international society through tackling environmental issues facing the Caribbean region by obtaining their master’s degree at Sophia University Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies. The program commenced in 2023 following an agreement signed among UWI (University of the West Indies), Sophia University, and APIC.
