On 15 June, seven students from Shotoku Gakuen Junior and Senior High School visited APIC office as an outside class activity and met with Miss Mary Helen Mori and Miss Risa Mariana Oue, who are Sophia-APIC Xavier High School Scholarship Students and studying at Sophia University. Mary and Risa explained in easy English about recommendable places in Micronesia and its local life to the Shotoku Gakuen students. They also talked about some legends in the Micronesian Islands. The junior and senior high school students seemed to have some difficulty in listening and speaking in English, however, they listened attentively to the Micronesian students with whom they first met. On the other hand, the Shotoku Gakuen students also introduced their school in English, in which the Xavier students were very interested. At the end, the Xavier students gave a present of a song, by playing the ukulele.

A few days later, we received letters from the Shotoku Gakuen students. They said in the letters that the sound of the ukulele was beautiful and their harmony was great. Also, they said that it made them want to visit Micronesia and want to try some local food in Micronesia. Their handwritten letters were heartwarming.
We hope that Shotoku Gakuen students will remember this experience at APIC, challenge various things and enjoy their life at school.
