Commemorative Dinner for Floyd Takeuchi’s Micronesia Photo Exhibit “Tropical Light”

On May 13th, a commemorative dinner was held at the Tokyo Club for photographer Floyd K. Takeuchi’s solo exhibition “Tropical Light”.


Sponsored by APIC with support from the Embassy of the Federated States of Micronesia and Nihon Keizai Shimbun, among others, “Tropical Light” opened on the 12th of May and the commemorative dinner was held at the Tokyo Club the following evening on the 13th. Mr. Peter Sato, the president of APIC, hosted the dinner with 24 people in attendance, including Mr. Takeuchi, former president of the Federated States of Micronesia Mr. Mori, and persons from Sophia University and Xavier High School. After Mr. Takeuchi addressed the audience, Father Rich from Xavier High School gave an address of thanks to APIC and Sophia University for their help in supporting exchange students from the high school to Japan.

There was a relaxed air during the evening, with attendees amiably chatting amongst themselves. Towards the end of the evening, former president Mori gave a speech in which he congratulated Mr. Takeuchi on his photo exhibition.

Floyd K. Takeuchi’s photo exhibition “Tropical Light” was on display on the first floor at Sophia University’s Yotsuya Campus’ Nigokan from May 12th to June 9th, 2017. Sophia University’s President Terumichi said that “these beautiful photos of Micronesia make us think about what the world right now is trying to tell us”.
